What a beautiful All Saints Day. Laura and I took a short 45 minute bike ride down the D&L from the Tannery. It was 60 degrees, but at 14mph it was a bit chilly. The leaves had mostly fallen except for the red tops of some trees in the distance. I wish I could have taken a picture, but the trees were too much in the way. It will have to remain in my memory - the sun glistening on the river with the mostly-downed leaves except for the late hangers-on which will be gone by this Friday. We’re forecasted to get 2 or 3 inches of rain late this week.
Back at home, after putting up the bikes, I enjoyed a lovely Old Forester Rye on the deck. With the sun starting to lower on the horizon, and deer in the yard, I grabbed my camera, threw on a 100-400mm lens to capture a few last minute memories of this glorious fall day. Bruce and Lexi’s camper is in the drive. Salmon season ended, time for new adventures for them.
Leaves fall down gently…one by one…Doe and late fawn in the woods, sun shining through the last of the yellowing ferns, our bear figurines with spider webs going between them, dusty millers coming to the end of the season, sun shining on our wind chimes, the end of season for our geraniums on the deck - remind me of how blessed we are to be here. God is great. Life is good.
